Joynston street

Joynston Street was originally named after a local Councillor who later became Wednesbury’s youngest Mayor. 1899 – 1900
Councillor C.W.D. Joynson JP was born in 1862 and an active Wesleyan..
During his office he opened the Wednesbury Fire Station, a hospital in Dangerfield Lane and
Kings Hill park.  In 1925 he became an Alderman.
Although the street was named after him… a Wesleyan, there was a Methodist Chapel here.
This was built in 1908 and replaced the Kings Hill Fields Primitive Methodist Church.
Kings Hill Junior and Infants School can be seen in the picture. This was built in 1888.
